Australian batter Travis Head congratulated Indian captain Rohit Sharma with a brief one-word post on his X handle following the retirement of the batter from Test cricket on Tuesday, May 7. After leading India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title, Rohit retired from T20Is, meaning he will now only feature in ODIs for India.

Rohit ended his Test career with 4,301 runs at an average of 40.57 from 67 matches, including 12 centuries. Abhishek Sharma also took to his X handle to express his appreciation for Rohit,

“Thank you for everything big brother. Legend.”

Head replied to Abhishek’s post. “Finest.”

Head had played a key role in two big matches when Rohit was leading India. He hit hundreds in the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) final and the ODI World Cup final to lead Australia to success. In the fifty-over World Cup final, Head’s remarkable catch to dismiss a well-set Rohit shifted the momentum towards Australia. However, Rohit later found redemption, leading India to victories over Australia in the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy.
