IPL 2025 Suspended: Royal Challengers Bengaluru's star wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma was supposed to lead them in their match against LSG, which was supposed to be held on Friday, but the ongoing season was suspended, and regular skipper Rajat Patidar sustained an injury.

Jitesh reckoned that he had already made plans for their clash against LSG, but then IPL 2025 was suspended owing to tensions between India and Pakistan.

Patidar had suffered a finger injury during their match against CSK last week, and as per ESPNCricinfo, he was seen wearing a splint and didn't attend the training session ahead of their next match. It emphasised that he might have been ruled out of the clash against LSG and then against SRH.

Jitesh revealed that he had the chance to lead the Bengaluru-based franchise from the front, and that was a huge deal for him. He had already planned who would be Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar's replacement in their playing XI.

"I was very grateful for the opportunity given to me. They were giving me an opportunity to captain RCB, and it's a very big thing for me and my family. I was thinking of what the right combination would be because both Devdutt [Padikkal] and Rajat were not available, and it was a big responsibility to replace them." Jitesh was quoted as saying to RCB.

"And as per the position we were on the points table, we would have won this game. All of this was going on in my head, and all the meetings with coaches and players in those two to three days, batting order, and discussions with bowlers. I had good fun," he concluded.

RCB cautious with Patidar

The Bengaluru-based franchise is closely monitoring Patidar as they are hoping that their captain recovers well in time for the remaining matches and is also available for the selection of the India A squad for the Test series against England. And now that the IPL 2025 is most likely to begin from May 16, Patidar might have recovered well in time.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will lock horns with LSG during their next match after the ongoing season officially resumes.
