Rishabh Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants have been eliminated from the Indian Premier League 2025. Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Lucknow by 6 wickets to end the home franchise’s hopes of making it to the second round. LSG won matches in the first half of the tournament, but the second phase dented their hopes after successive losses. Pant, who was bought for INR 27 crore, couldn’t get going with the bat and often scolded his players for making mistakes on the field.
He accepted that the Giants were not at their best when it mattered the most. The southpaw also opened up on the biggest positive from an ordinary season.
“We were lacking in lots of areas due to injuries. I don’t often talk about it, but it is not easy to manage with the limited resources. If we had all our bowlers available, things could have been different but I don’t want to use it as an excuse,” Rishabh Pant said.
He talked about the positive. “We have a strong batting line-up, which I feel is the biggest positive for us this season. The batters showed consistency, but it is the bowling that needs improvement. Bowling has been impressive but in patches. We played good cricket in the first half but couldn’t catch up in the second half,” he added.
LSG have 10 points from 12 matches and the team would aim to win the remaining two contests to end the 18th season on a high.
