Hobart Hurricanes claimed its first Women’s Big Bash League title after it pulled off a comfortable eight-wicket win over Perth Scorchers in the WBBL 2025 final on Saturday.

Hurricanes opener Lizelle Lee scored a 44-ball 77 to guide her side to the win after a disciplined bowling effort restricted Scorchers to just 137/5 in the first innings.

Left-arm spinner Linsey Smith and medium pacer Heather Graham took two wickets apiece to restrict Scorchers’ batting effort after they elected to bat.

Sophie Devine (33) and Beth Mooney (34) were the top-scorers for Scorchers, but neither of them could accelerate after a slow start, resulting in their side settling for a sub-par total.

Lee took charge of the chase, as Hurricanes swept past the 50-run mark inside six overs without the loss of a wicket.

The 33-year-old smashed 10 fours and four sixes to close off Hurricanes’ win with five overs to spare.
