Jofra Archer 5 Wickets: The third Test match of the Ashes series between Australia and England is being played in Adelaide. England's pacer Joffra Archer was amazing in this test match. While bowling in the first innings of Adelaide Test, he took 5 wickets for Australia. This is the first time since 2019 that Joffra Archer has achieved the feat of taking 5 wickets in Test cricket.
Joffra Archer took 122 balls to achieve the feat of Australia taking 5 wickets. He took 5 wickets for 53 runs in 20.2 overs in the first innings of Adelaide Test. This is the fourth time in Test cricket that Jofra Archer has taken 5 wickets. Out of those, he has taken 5 wickets 3 times only against Australia, while once he did this feat in a Test against South Africa. Before this, he had taken all three 5-wicket hauls in the Test played in the year 2019 itself.
The names of the batsmen dismissed by Jofra Archer in the first innings of the Adelaide Test were Jake Weatherold, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon. Took 5 wickets for 53 runs against Australia, Archer has the third best bowling figure in Test cricket. His earlier best performance is also against Australia, when he took 6 wickets for 45 runs in the Test played in August 2019 and 6 wickets for 62 runs in the Test played in September 2019.
Right-arm fast bowler Joffra Archer also started his Test career in the year 2019 itself. He played his first Test against England in August 2019. But even after making his debut 6 years ago, he has been able to play only 18 Tests so far only because injury kept him away from cricket for a long time.
After taking 5 wickets in the first innings of the current Adelaide Test against Australia, Jofra Archer now has 59 wickets in Test cricket. He has taken these wickets in 33 innings of 18 matches at an average of 30.27.
Talking about Adelaide Test, Australia's first innings was reduced to 371 runs due to the 5 wickets taken by Joffra Archer. Alex Carey scored the highest 106 runs for Australia. This was his first century against England and third of his Test career. Apart from him, Usman Khawaja scored 82 runs. While Mitchell Starc played an inning of 54 runs. Mitchell Starc has scored back to back half-centuries for the first time in his Test career.
Joffra Archer, who did wonders with the ball and took 5 wickets for Australia in the Adelaide Test, is the same bowler about whom former cricketer Ryan Harris had said that he should take off his gold chain and bowl. This will give them more speed. It is not known how much Archer followed the advice of former Australian cricketer Harris, but he definitely showed his dominance by taking 5 wickets in Adelaide.
