The Match No. 29 of Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26will be played between Brisbane Heat (HEA) and Sydney Thunder (THU) at the Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, January 10. The two sides have already met once this season, where Sydney emerged victorious — also is their only win of the season thus far.
The Heat's campaign has oscillated between losses and wins so far. They have lost one more match (four) than they have won in the seven matches played. The Nathan McSweeney-led unit will be aiming at finishing their latter phase of the season strong, since they are still in contention to book a playoffs' berth.
Apart from a solitary 34-run win, there has not been much to celebrate about for the Thunder. They have been at the bottom of the points table, since the outset, and are suffering with a vastly inferior net run rate (NRR) of -1.255. David Warner & Co. will be desperate to claim a win, although they have been eliminated from the knockouts' race.

Three matches have been played at the Gabba this BBL edition. It has traditionally been a venue where plenty of runs have been scored across the match. Pace bowlers might find some assistance with the new ball. During the second half of the match, scoring runs may get relatively trickier. The captain winning the toss will aim at batting first and piling up a massive score on the board for the opposition to come under pressure during the chase.

HEA vs THU Probable Top Performers Probable Best Batter — David Warner2026 has been a stellar year for seasoned campaigner David Warner already. The Thunder's skipper is coming off a couple of blistering knocks (130* off 65 and 67* off 51). The experienced southpaw can be expected to play an instrumental role and get his team off to another flying start.
Probable Best Bowler — Xavier Bartlett

After a couple of sub-par outings, Xavier Bartlett seemed to be back to his best with an economic performance in the Heat's recent clash against Sydney Sixers, where he gave away only 23 runs and picked up an important wicket. The right-arm pacer will be one to watch out for, in particular during the powerplay when additional seam movement will be expected.
Today's Match Prediction: Team batting first to win the match
