The inaugural edition of the World Legends Pro T20 League is set to get underway on Monday, January 26. The tournament will be played entirely at the 1919 Sportz Cricket Stadium in Goa and will run until February 4, 2026, featuring 18 matches across ten days.

A total of six franchises will compete for the maiden title, including Rajasthan Lions, Delhi Warriors, Pune Panthers, Dubai Royals, Gurugram Thunders, and Maharashtra Tycoons. Each team is led by a cricketing legend and consists of a mix of iconic international stars and popular Indian cricketers, with over 90 legendary cricketers taking part. Fans can expect to see the likes of Chris Gayle, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Kieron Pollard, Harbhajan Singh, Dale Steyn, and Eoin Morgan feature in the tournament.

The competition will follow a single round-robin league format, with each team playing the others once. The top four teams at the end of the league stage will advance to the semi-finals on February 3, while the final is scheduled for February 4. Net run rate will serve as the tiebreaker in case teams finish level on points. Former Australian skipper, Michael Clarke, who serves as the league commissioner, opened up about the competition and the legendary players featuring in it.

"Seeing these squads and captains come together is incredibly exciting. Many of these players I have faced on the field during my career, and to watch them return in this format brings back so many great memories. Each team is well-balanced, blending legendary experience with T20 flair, and fans are in for a real spectacle: high-octane matches, unforgettable moments, and a chance to see some of the greatest players in cricket history light up the field once again," he said.

Meanwhile, SGSE CEO Mahesh Bhupathi stressed upon cricket coming for the first time in years to Goa and the excitement among fans who are excited to witness the stars.

"Reaching this stage is a significant milestone for us. This league is built on a model where management and owners are focused on creating long-term, sustainable value together. For the first time in years, Goa will host a major cricketing extravaganza, and we're excited to bring world-class cricket to the city," he said.
