Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni. This story has been going on in IPL for the last 19 years. But for the first time in this 19 season old league, both have looked so isolated. Even in IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings failed to reach the playoffs and the team looked very weak on the field. Amidst all this, Dhoni remained completely away from the field despite being in the team. This has raised many questions, including the future of the team, leadership and management. A sensational revelation related to these questions has come to light, in which it has been claimed that because of Dhoni, a coach rejected the possibility of joining CSK.
In his last match of IPL 2026 Chennai Had to face defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans. With this, the team was completely out of the playoff race and its journey in the tournament ended. This is the third consecutive season when the team could not qualify for the playoffs. In such a situation, there seems to be a need for change not only in the players but also in the coaching staff of the team which is going through a phase of change, but there seems to be an obstacle in its path in the form of Dhoni.
After the end of CSK's journey in the tournament, a report has come out in which this big claim has been made. Indian Express In this report, quoting sources, it has been told that a contender has expressed his desire to become the coach of CSK but he is sure that as long as Dhoni remains with the team, he cannot join this franchise. A major reason for this is Dhoni's status within the franchise, his influence and the ongoing uncertainty regarding his future.
But it's not just this, CSK itself had also rejected a well-known Indian coach last year. In the same report, it has been revealed that a famous Indian coach had explored the possibility of joining CSK as a coach. This coach has good relations with the experienced people of CSK. But that coach was then asked by CSK to wait. It is because of that that Chennai is currently with the current coaching setup. At present, New Zealand's veteran Stephen Fleming is the coach of CSK, who has been holding this responsibility in the team since 2009 and now there is a demand to replace him.
