Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah lays foundation stone for new 80,000-seater stadium near Bengaluru

Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, laid the foundation stone for a new cricket stadium on the outskirts of Bengaluru, near Anekal. The decision to build a new modern stadium comes after the unfortunate stampede which followed outside the M.Chinnaswamy after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the 2025 Indian Premier League season. 

As part of the “Namma Mane” scheme, the Karnataka government, led by CM Siddaramaiah, is set to lay the foundation for a housing complex, as well as a brand new cricket stadium. According to reports, the brand new project is set to cost in the region of INR 943 crore. 

“I inaugurated and extended my best wishes at the event jointly organised by the Housing Department and the Karnataka Housing Board in Suryanagar, which featured the foundation stone laying ceremony for the International Cricket Stadium, the launch of the Chief Minister's "Namma Mane" scheme, the foundation stone laying for the Suryashine and Surya Divine residential complex projects, and the symbolic distribution of sites to landowners who contributed land for the housing project,” Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah posted on his social media account.

"Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Home Minister G. Parameshwara, Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed, KHB Chairman and MLA Shivalinge Gowda, Anekal MLA Shivanna, senior MLAs T.B. Jayachandra and Krishnappa, former MP D.K. Suresh, Slum Development Board Chairman and MLA Abbayya, MLC Ramojigowda, and Guarantee Implementation Committee Chairman H.M. Revanna, along with several other dignitaries, were present," he added.
