Delhi: The Pakistan cricket team had to be content with the league round in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They lost to the United States of America (USA) in their opening match. After this, India also defeated them. However, Pakistan did win against Ireland and Canada, but this was not enough to reach the Super-8. After this, Pakistani players are now facing the anger of the fans due to their poor performance in the tournament. In such a situation, former legendary Indian team opener Virender Sehwag has made a big revelation.

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag said, “Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Aamir both used to criticize the Pakistani team. Now both of them are part of the Pakistan team, when they were out of the team, they used to advise many people to play cricket. Today one is a selector and one is in the final eleven, so what contribution did they make to the team?”

He further said, “Only close players like Imad Wasim were given a chance in the team. It is like if Ajit Agarkar is the chairman (of BCCI selection committee) today, he would say 'Come Veeru, come Jack (Zaheer Khan)', I will get you back.”

Pakistani selectors should do their work honestly – Sehwag

Sehwag urged the Pakistani selectors to avoid bias and focus on the future of the team and take honest decisions. He said, “You have become selectors, you have to look towards the future. You have a job, use it properly, do not favour anyone. The selectors will have to take this tough step.”
