Delhi: Afghanistan's star wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz revealed that he is not just thinking about facing legendary fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah during the Super-8 round match against India at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Thursday. He also said that the Afghanistan team is participating in the tournament not just to participate but to become the winner. Afghanistan made history by qualifying for the Super 8. They will face India, Australia and West Indies in the Super 8 stage.
Afghanistan's team has reached the Super 8 on the basis of their excellent performance in the group stage. They entered the next round of the tournament by defeating Uganda, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. However, before the Super 8, they had to face a crushing defeat against West Indies by 104 runs. Gurbaz has been one of the highest run scorers in the tournament. He has scored 167 runs in 4 matches at an average of 41.75.
Gurbaz said, “Honestly, my target is not just Bumrah. I will try to target not only Bumrah but all the bowlers because there are 5 bowlers who will bowl. I have to face not only Bumrah but everyone and it is possible that some other bowler may get me out, but yes, if I get a chance to score runs against them, I will definitely do so. It can be anyone – Bumrah, Arshdeep or Siraj. If they bowl in my area, I will score runs. I will either get out or score runs.”
There will be a tough competition between India and Afghanistan
It is worth noting that Afghanistan has not won a single T20 International match against India so far, but the team led by Rashid Khan would like to give a tough challenge to the opponent team. On the other hand, the team led by Rohit Sharma will try its best to continue its winning streak.
