India defeated Afghanistan by 47 runs in their first match of the Super 8 stage in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Chasing 182 runs to register their first win in the second round, the Rashid Khan-led team was restricted to 134 runs all-out in 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah was the star performer with the ball as he took three wickets in the contest.

Afghanistan couldn’t time their chase and felt short against India. Earlier, the Men in Blue posted 181/8 in 20 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav scoring a fifty.

He was supported by Hardik Pandya, who managed 34 runs. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Rashid took three wickets each, respectively.
