Pat Cummins has taken a hat-trick against Bangladesh in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He bowled exceptionally well and didn’t give any scoring opportunity to the rival batters. It is the seventh hat-trick in the history of the T20 World Cup.
Cummins’ first wicket came in the form of Mahmudullah, who scored 2 runs. He was bowled on the fifth delivery of the 18th over. Pat then got rid of Mahedi Hasan, who was caught by Adam Zampa.
Former T20I captain returned to bowl the last of the Bangladesh innings and took the prized scalp of Towhid Hridoy on the first ball to complete his hat-trick.
He is the second Australia player after Brett Lee to take three wickets in a row in the World Cup match.
He conceded 29 runs from his four overs as Bangladesh managed 140/8. Adam Zampa was the second highest wicker-taker, with two scalps from his quota.
Earlier, at North Sound, Antigua, Australia won the toss and chose to bowl in the final first-round match in the Super Eight stage against Bangladesh.
The decision by captain Mitch Marsh to bowl was slightly surprising because of the 18 matches at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in the tournament so far, 11 have been won by the team batting first.
Australia made two lineup changes, bringing back Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins in place of Ashton Agar and Nathan Ellis. Bangladesh made one change, naming Mahedi Hasan in place of Jaker Ali.
