Delhi: Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins has created history. He made a record which is impossible for any bowler in international cricket. Cummins, who took a hat-trick against Bangladesh in the last match, also took a hat-trick in the match against Afghanistan. Cummins has become the first bowler to take a hat-trick in two consecutive T20I matches. No other bowler has achieved this feat so far. Cummins has made this record as the first bowler to take two hat-tricks in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The right-handed pacer made this record in the match against Afghanistan in the Super-8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. Batting first in this match, Afghanistan scored 148 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. When the Afghan openers added 118 runs for the first wicket, it seemed that they would score big, but it was not possible as Cummins registered a brilliant hat-trick.

Cummins, who created history by taking back-to-back hat-tricks in this mega tournament, stopped the Afghan batsmen from scoring big. The former Kangaroo captain took the wicket of Rashid Khan on the last ball of the 18th over against Afghanistan. After this, Cummins dismissed Karim Janat and Gulbadin Naib on the first two balls of the 20th over. All these batsmen were caught out.

What records did Cummins set?

Cummins became the first bowler to take two consecutive T20I hat-tricks, while Rashid Khan and Lasith Malinga are the only other full member team bowlers with two T20I hat-tricks. No other bowler has achieved this feat more than once in the T20 World Cup. Pat is the fourth Australian to achieve this record. Apart from Cummins, Brett Lee, Ashton Agar and Nathan Ellis are the other Australians in this list to take T20I hat-tricks. Cummins has so far taken 66 wickets in 56 T20I matches at an economy of 7.36.
