In the T20 World Cup final, South Africa and India will face off. On Saturday, June 29, the much-anticipated match will take place at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
In the competition so far, neither team has lost. To get to the final, they had to conquer formidable opponents, including England, Australia, and the West Indies. India had performed somewhat better overall than the Proteas, who had encountered some difficulties during the group round. In the T20 World Cup, these two teams have already played each other six times. Between them, India won four of the matches.
But when South Africa faced the Men in Blue in the final tournament held in Australia, they came out on top. The 2022 T20 World Cup final between India and South Africa is only hours away, and the ICC posted some highlights from the match on Instagram.
In a group match, South Africa and India faced off at the Optus Stadium in Perth. After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma decided to bat first. Despite having a brilliant start, the Indian skipper was unable to hold on for too long. After Rohit scored fifteen runs off of two boundaries and a four, Lungi Ngidi caught him for a catch with a slower ball. In the same over, KL Rahul too made his way back to the pavilion with a meager 9 runs.
After hitting two straight boundaries from Ngidi, Virat Kohli was caught at the fine leg in the very next ball. After holding the wicket at one end, Suryakumar Yadav made a half-century that saved the innings. He hit three sixes and six fours in his 68-run knock. However, Surya did not get enough assistance from the other batters.
Lungi Ngidi took four wickets for South Africa, while Wayne Parnell claimed three, including the vital wicket of Suryakumar Yadav. With 133 runs after the lower order folded like a pack of cards, India completed their inning.
In the second over of the match, Arshdeep Singh removed Quinton de Kock by drawing the first blood for India. In the same over, the youthful Indian pacer removed Rilee Rossouw for a duck. India had optimism about winning the match because of the early wickets. But David Miller and Aiden Markram had other ideas. Having lost three wickets, South Africa was in control when the pair took over.
The game was turned around when Miller and Markram each scored fifty runs and had a 76-run partnership. With their help, South Africa was able to easily chase down the pathetic goal in 19.4 overs.
This time, India, under Rohit Sharma, will try to reverse the trend and win the championship match to win their second T20 World Cup.
