Former India player Ravi Shastri has given an important suggestion to Virat Kohli ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. Kohli has been a flop in the tournament so far. The veteran has registered two ducks and hasn’t touched a fifty-run mark once.
Kohli has been found wanting against the pacers and spinners as an opener. He was given a task of opening the batting for the first time in the T20 World Cup but the move back-fired.
The mode of his dismissals has been shocking and his aggressive batting style hasn’t worked in his favour in the United States of America and the West Indies.
Shastri feels Virat is playing wrong strokes and he should stick to cricketing shots.
“Virat has showed intent but the problem has been his shot selection. Kohli should play proper cricketing strokes and there is no need to try something different. Rohit Sharma is playing aggressively but look at his shots. He is not doing anything unique or different to unsettle the bowlers. Kohli should also follow him.
“It is good to be aggressive but he you can’t leave your trademark style behind. There is a possibility of him scoring runs against South Africa in the final,” Ravi Shastri said on Star Sports.
