Why Virat Kohli Announced His Retirement From T20I : The Indian team has created history by winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title. India has won a World Cup title for the first time since 2011. Amidst the joy of victory, a disappointing news also came for the Indian team. Former Team India captain and legendary batsman Virat Kohli has announced his retirement. Virat Kohli said after the final match that this was his last T20 International match for India.
Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings of 76 runs in his last T20 International match for India and was named Player of the Match. After Team India became the champion, Virat Kohli said that now it is the turn of the youth and this was my last T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli also said that now it is time for the next generation.
Virat Kohli's fans are very disappointed with his retirement but we will tell you what were the 3 major reasons for Virat Kohli's retirement.
1. Giving opportunities to young players
While announcing his retirement, Virat Kohli said that now it is time for the young generation to take over the team. This is also true because the next T20 World Cup will be held after 2 years and by then Virat Kohli's form may decline further and he will also be 37 years old. T20 is a game of youth and perhaps due to all these reasons Virat Kohli announced his retirement.
2. Not being able to bat according to the pace of T20
If you look at the entire T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli could not bat as per the requirement. Although Virat Kohli is a great batsman and there is no doubt about his ability, but despite this, T20 now requires a lot of aggressive batting. Big shots have to be played from the first ball itself. Virat Kohli may have felt during this entire World Cup that now it is time to end his innings in T20.
3. Preparation for Champions Trophy and World Test Championship
The Indian team has to play the Champions Trophy and then the World Test Championship next year. Virat Kohli had already indicated that he would focus more on these two tournaments. That is why he retired from the T20 format so that he could focus more on these Tests and ODIs.
