After winning the final, Rohit said in the press conference, “This was also my last T20 International match. There could not be a better time to say goodbye to this format. I have enjoyed every moment of it. I started my career for India playing in this format. This is what I wanted, I wanted to win the cup.”
Rohit further said, “I wanted to win at all costs. It is very difficult to put it into words. It was a very emotional moment for me. I was desperate for this title in my life. I am happy that we finally achieved this milestone.”
Rohit finished his career as the top scorer in this format. He scored 4231 runs in 151 innings, in which he also scored five centuries. He became the second Indian player to win two T20 World Cups, in 2007 as a player and now as captain.
Rohit was the most successful player for India in this World Cup and he scored 257 runs in 8 innings.
With this win, Rohit made a special record. He became the first player in the world to win 50 T20 International matches as a captain. After Rohit, Babar Azam is second on this list, who has won 48 T20 International matches as a captain.
