The Board of Control for Cricket in India will reward the Indian team for winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The prize money of INR 125 crore will be given to the winning squad for their achievement in the West Indies. Jay Shah, the secretary of the apex body of the Indian cricket, took to X to make the announcement.

The Men in Blue defeated South Africa by 7 runs to win their second T20 World Cup title. The first one came in 2007. Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller had put India out of the contest but sensational bowling by Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh took the sub-continent team to a win in the final.

Virat Kohli (76), Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27) took the total to 176/7. For the Proteas, Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje took two wickets each.

South suffered two early blows in the form of Reeza Hendricks (4) and Aiden Markram (4), who were undone by Bumrah and Arshdeep.

Tristan Stubbs played a handy knock of 31 runs off 21 deliveries. However, the real acceleration was started by Klaasen, who amassed 52 runs off 27 balls, packed with 5 sixes and 2 fours. He was supported by David Miller, who managed 21 runs off 17 deliveries. Hardik Pandya dismissed the two dangerous batters and played a key role in India’s victory.

“I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement,” Jay Shah wrote on X.
