Virat Kohli: After hoisting the Indian flag in Barbados, the Indian team created history by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final match of the World Cup 2024. On July 4, the Indian team reached New Delhi from the West Indies. After meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, Team India reached Mumbai in the evening.

A victory procession was organised in Mumbai, in which lakhs of fans participated. The enthusiasm of the Indian players was also seen at the Wankhede Stadium, when all the players, from Rohit Sharma to Virat Kohli, sang the Vande Mataram song together, the video of which is also going viral on social media.

  • The Indian team took out a victory procession in Mumbai, in which lakhs of fans participated. The Indian team reached Wankhede Stadium from Nariman Point in a bus.
  • During this time, the team also accepted the greetings of all the spectators. After reaching Wankhede Stadium, the enthusiasm of the Indian team doubled. Apart from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, all the players of the team took rounds of the ground singing the song Vande Mataram.
  • Apart from the players, thousands of fans were also seen singing the Vande Mataram song along with the Indian team. This hair-raising and beautiful video went viral on social media.

A strong event by BCCI

  • After landing in India from West Indies on 4th July, the Indian team was a topic of discussion on social media the whole day. As soon as the Indian team landed in New Delhi, they first met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • After this, the team reached Mumbai in the evening, where lakhs of fans were present at Marine Drive to welcome them. Fans also reached Wankhede Stadium with the Indian team. BCCI had organized a grand event to welcome the players. During this, the board also gave Rs 125 crore to the Indian team for becoming the world champion.

Trophy came after 17 years

  • India last won the T20 World Cup title in 2007 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.
  • In such a situation, Team India, which was facing a T20 World Cup drought of 17 years, won its second title by defeating South Africa on 29 June 2024. All the players of Team India performed brilliantly in the final match.
