Delhi: Zimbabwe cricket team head coach Justin Sammons has praised Indian team captain and star opener Shubman Gill ahead of the 5-match T20 International series. In the absence of India's top players, young Gill has been given the captaincy of Team India. In such a situation, this series will be very important for the opener, who is being seen as the next regular captain of the Indian team.

Ahead of the first match of the series on Saturday, July 6, Zimbabwe coach Sammons praised the batsman and said that Gill's record speaks for itself.

The Zimbabwe coach said, “Shubman is a fantastic cricketer. I remember the first time I saw Shubman. I think I was with the Proteas. We were playing a Test series against India. I think it was December 2021. He didn’t get a chance there, but you could see his game and the way he was professional about his batting in the nets during that Test series was worth watching and as I said, his record speaks for itself.”

In this series, Riyan Parag will get a chance to play his first match for India. Sammons said that he knows how dangerous a player he is.
