Zimbabwe becomes 1st team to defend successfully lowest target against Team India: India's Zimbabwe (IND vs ZIM) tour started today with a T20 match played in Harare, which the hosts won by 13 runs. In this match, Zimbabwe lost the toss and batted first and scored 115/9. In the reply innings, Team India was all out for 102 runs in 19.5 overs. With this win, the Zimbabwe team also registered a big record in T20 International against India.
In fact, Zimbabwe has become the team to successfully defend the smallest target in T20 International against India. Earlier this record was registered in the name of New Zealand. The Kiwi team had won by defending the target of 127 runs against India in the 13th match of the T20 World Cup held in 2016. In that match, Team India was all out for 79 runs while chasing this target and the Kiwis won by 47 runs.
South Africa is at number two in this list. In the T20 World Cup played in 2009, South Africa had set a target of 131 runs for India to win in the 24th match of the tournament. In the reply innings, the Men in Blue were able to score only 118 runs after losing 8 wickets after playing the full overs and South Africa won by 12 runs.
Zimbabwe had earlier defended a target of 146 runs against India, which is at number four in this list. India toured Zimbabwe in 2016. The second match of the series was played in Harare, in which the host team had set a target of 146 runs for India to win. In the reply innings, Team India could score only 135 runs after losing 9 wickets after playing the full overs and the hosts won by 10 runs.
In 2023, the West Indies team successfully defended the target of 150 runs against India and won by 4 runs.
