Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian cricket team in the World Test Championship 2023-25 (WTC 2023-25) and the ICC Championship Trophy 2025.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah announced this through a video message on Sunday (July 7).

Jai Shah said, “I am confident that under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, we will win the World Test Championship final and the Champions Trophy.”

Jai Shah dedicated the World Cup final victory to captain Rohit, coach Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.

Under Rohit's captaincy, the Indian team recently won the T20 World Cup 2024 title. Before that, under Rohit's leadership, the Indian team reached the World Test Championship final and the ODI World Cup final, in both of which India lost to Australia.

Despite this, the BCCI kept faith in Rohit and handed over the command of the team to him in the 2024 T20 World Cup as well.

Under Rohit's captaincy, India won the T20 World Cup without losing a single match, which was the first time in the history of this tournament.

Let us tell you that Rohit got this responsibility after Virat Kohli left the captaincy in 2021.

After winning the T20 World Cup, Rohit retired from this format, but he will now remain the captain of the Indian team in Tests and ODIs.
