Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, confirmed that Rohit Sharma will captain India in the World Test Championship cycle and the Champions Trophy and expressed confidence that the sub-continent will emerge victorious in two tournaments. “We won hearts, but we were not able to win the 2023 ODI World Cup.

I said in Rajkot that on June 29 that we will win the T20 World Cup and hoist the Indian flag in Barbados. And our skipper hoisted it,” Jay Shah said in a video shared by the BCCI.

“After this victory, the WTC final and the Champions Trophy are our next targets. I am confident that our team will become champion under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy,” he added.

Rohit, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja have retired from T20Is. India are currently leading the World Test Championship points table with six wins in nine Tests in the 2023-25 cycle.
