India defeated Zimbabwe by 100 runs in the second T20I to level the five-match series 1-1. After losing the opening contest, the Men in Blue bounced back brilliantly. Abhishek Sharma, who registered a duck in the first clash, scored a hundred off 46 balls.
Overall, he faced 47 deliveries, smashing 8 sixes and 7 fours. Apart from him, Ruturaj Gaikwad managed an unbeaten 77 runs off 47 balls, with the help of 11 fours and 1 six.
Rinku Singh amassed 48 not out off 22 balls, including 5 sixes and 2 fours as India posted 234/2 in 20 overs.
Zimbabwe never looked threatening and were bowled out for 134 in 18.4 overs. Wessly Madhevere (43), Luke Jongwe (33) and Brian Bennett (26) tried their best but couldn’t carry on till the end.
Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar took three wickets each. Ravi Bishnoi chipped in with two scalps.
“The World Champions will eventually play like World Champions. We dropped four catches and that hurt us a lot. I was expecting a score of 200 runs and they got 20 runs extra. I thought it would be a close game.
“We didn’t bat well in today’s game. Our top order is not firing and this has been a case in both T20Is against India,” Sikandar Raza said.
