It was an exceptional knock from Abhishek, who took the Zimbabwe bowlers to the cleaners en route to his hundred.
Displaying his hitting prowess, the left-hander proved why he is so highly rated. Abhishek became only the eighth Indian after the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli to notch up a hundred in T20Is.
He also became the first Indian batter to score a century against Zimbabwe in T20Is. The left-hander went berserk in Harare and played some terrific shots to all parts of the ground, entertaining the crowd with his big hits. Playing only his 2nd game for India, Abhishek showed what he is capable of and will be hoping to continue his stellar run in the remained of the five-match series.
India post 234/2 in 2nd T20I
Riding on Abhishek's sensational ton and brilliant knocks from Ruturak Gaikwad (77) and Rinku Singh (48), India posted a huge total of 234 runs on the board in 20 overs in the 2nd T20I against Zimbabwe. Abhishek and Gaikwad combined to add a 137-run stand for the second wicket after skipper Shubman Gill's early dismissal to set the platform for a big total for India.
Gaikwad upped the ante after Abhishek's departure in the 14th over and added an unbeaten stand of 87 runs for the third wicket with Rinku, who played a fine cameo. India will aim to defend the total successfully and level the five-match series 1-1.
