Team India: Team India won the T20 World Cup title after 17 years under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup 2024. After winning the T20 World Cup title, Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from the international T20 format. Due to which now Team India is going to get a new captain in the T20 format.
According to media reports, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah can meet with the selection committee and give the responsibility of captaining the Indian team to this 30-year-old veteran player.
After Team India's veteran Rohit Sharma retired from T20 International cricket, the Indian team is playing under the captaincy of Shubman Gill on the Zimbabwe tour.
Team India will be seen playing only on the Zimbabwe tour under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. Team India has to go on a Sri Lanka tour at the end of July.In such a situation, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah can announce the name of the captain of the new T20 format of Team India along with the team selection for the Sri Lanka tour.

30-year-old veteran all-rounder Hardik Pandya was the vice-captain of the team under Rohit Sharma's leadership. In such a situation, after Rohit Sharma's retirement, it is almost certain that Hardik Pandya is going to become the new captain of Team India's T20 format.
If Hardik Pandya gets the captaincy of Team India, then he would like to defend the title of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup to be held in the year 2026.
Hardik Pandya has captained the Indian team on many occasions in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Hardik Pandya first captained Team India on the Ireland tour in the year 2022. After the Ireland tour, Hardik Pandya also played the role of captain on the New Zealand tour that same year.
In all the series before the 2023 World Cup in which Hardik Pandya was a part of the team squad, Hardik Pandya was seen captaining Team India.
