Everyone is eager to know who will be the new head coach of Team India. Former veteran opener and World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir is going to be the new coach of the team. Only his name is yet to be announced, which BCCI can do in the next few hours. But not only Gambhir will come to Team India, but three more new coaches will come, for which BCCI is going to issue applications soon. In fact, with Team India winning the T20 World Cup, not only Rahul Dravid's tenure has ended, but the tenure of his three supporting staff has also ended, for whose place BCCI will make this announcement.

With Team India winning the title in the T20 World Cup 2024, the tenure of head coach Rahul Dravid came to an end. Dravid had made it clear even before the World Cup that he would not be the coach of Team India after this tournament. Anyway, Dravid's tenure ended with the ODI World Cup final last year, but then at the behest of Rohit Sharma, he was retained till the T20 World Cup.

Application for new support staff

Like every time, this time also the tenure of the head coach as well as his support staff i.e. batting coach, bowling coach and fielding coach will end.

To support Dravid in the current coaching setup, there are batting coach Vikram Rathod, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dilip. Like Dravid, these three were also given extension till the T20 World Cup. Now the Indian Express report claims that soon BCCI will issue applications for the support staff as well. As has been the policy of BCCI, the current coach can also apply again. However, at the moment it is not clear whether the current coaching staff will apply again or not.

Gambhir will get freedom

However, it has also been claimed that in case Gambhir becomes the coach, he will have the freedom to choose his support staff.

Team India is currently on a tour of Zimbabwe, where National Cricket Academy chief VVS Laxman and his assistant coach are part of Team India. After this tour, the Indian team will go to Sri Lanka, where T20 and ODI series will be played. BCCI secretary Jay Shah has already announced that the new head coach of Team India will take over his work from this tour itself.
