Jay Shah: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah is going to be promoted very soon and he can directly become the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Let us tell you that Shah has been associated with BCCI since 2015 and he was elected secretary of the cricket board for the first time in 2019.
Shah has been continuously holding the post of secretary of the cricket board since 2019 and BCCI has become much stronger during his tenure. In such a situation, some such equations are being formed, due to which he can become the president of the board in the coming time.
Actually, for some time now, there have been headlines that Jay Shah can become the next president of ICC and if this happens then it will be even better for Indian cricket.
Let us tell you that Shah took many good decisions while being the secretary of BCCI and we are also seeing its results. After the defeat in the T20 World Cup 2022, it was believed that Rohit Sharma would no longer be seen captaining India in this format, but before the T20 World Cup 2024, Jay Shah announced that India would enter this World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit. The result was that Team India was successful in winning an ICC trophy after 11 years.
If Jay Shah is elected as the President of ICC and he completes his term of three years on this post, then after this he will be eligible to become the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India in the year 2028. Currently, he is handling the entire tenure by holding the post of Secretary and at present Roger Binny is the President of BCCI.
Let us tell you that according to the constitution of BCCI, if Jay Shah completes his three-year term as the President of ICC, then he can become the President of the Cricket Board.
Elections for the post of ICC Chairman are to be held in November this year and before that ICC has made changes in its constitution.Earlier in ICC, any person could hold the post of President three times and his tenure used to be for two years but now it has been increased to two times and the tenure has been made 3 years.
The current BCCI secretary has been associated with the cricket board since 2009. He worked in the Gujarat Cricket Association from 2009 to 2015 and after that he joined the BCCI and has been holding the post of secretary since 2019.
