Jasprit Bumrah’s standout performance at the T20 World Cup 2024 earned him the Player of the Tournament award. He recently won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for June. Bumrah defeated his India captain Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz for the prestigious accolade, capping off a highly competitive month of cricket that saw India clinch the T20 World Cup title in Barbados.

Bumrah was a standout performer throughout the T20 World Cup tournament held across the USA and Caribbean. The 30-year old pacer scapled 15 wickets at an average of 8.26, while maintaining a terrific economy rate of 4.17. Bumrah’s dominant displays cemented his reputation as one of the premier bowlers in world cricket, as he joined Virat Kohli in being named the Men’s T20 World Cup Player of the Tournament.

Bumrah played a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup campaign, starting with a brilliant 3/6 against Ireland in their opening match in New York. He maintained his stellar form, delivering a match-defining 3/14 against Pakistan just four days later. Although he went wicketless against the USA in their third outing, Bumrah showcased his class in the Super Eights, taking a total of six wickets in three matches.

He followed this with a superb 2/12 (2.4 overs) in India’s semi-final win over England, and closed out the tournament with a crucial 2/18 (4 overs) performance in the final against South Africa in Barbados.
