Happy Birthday Sunil Gavaskar: Former Team India captain Sunil Manohar Gavaskar, popularly known as Little Master, turned 75 today. The 5 foot 5 inch tall Sunil Gavaskar is counted among the most successful batsmen in the world. When Gavaskar entered the world of cricket, the pace battery of West Indies ruled the roost in Tests, but in his time, Gavaskar used to bat without a helmet and even the best bowlers would sweat in front of him. Sunil Gavaskar was born on 10 July 1949 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He started his international cricket career in 1971. Gavaskar made his Test debut in Port of Spain during the West Indies tour in 1971. This series was very memorable for him. He taught a lesson to the dreaded bowlers of West Indies in the very first series of his career.
In that debut series against West Indies, Gavaskar scored a record 774 runs in 4 Test matches. During this period, Gavaskar's average was 154.80. In this series, he scored 4 centuries including a double century and 3 half-centuries.

Apart from this, he scored 3092 runs in 108 ODIs for India, including one century. Gavaskar was also a part of the Indian team that won the 1983 World Cup.
