Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy felicitated pacer Mohammed Siraj for his contributions to India‘s dominant T20 World Cup 2024 victory. The 30-year-old played in three tournament matches, taking one wicket while conceding just 5.18 runs per over – an impressively economical performance.
In recognition of Mohammed Siraj’s achievements in the ICC tournament, Telangana, CM A. Revanth Reddy has instructed authorities to allocate land and offer Siraj a government position. The video of the Indian speedster receiving this accolade has gained widespread attention on social media.
The Chief Minister directed officials to quickly identify suitable land in Hyderabad or the surrounding area. He also ordered steps to be taken to secure a government job for Siraj. At the event, Siraj presented his autographed jersey to the Chief Minister in the presence of other distinguished guests.
“It fills us with pride that a Telangana-born cricketer was in the World Cup-winning team. May Mohammed Siraj’s success inspire countless young athletes to dream big and strive to achieve their goals,” CM Reddy stated.
Former India captain Mohd Azharuddin along with state ministers Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, were present at the felicitation ceremony.
The cricketer received a warm welcome from fans upon arriving in Telangana. He had just participated in the victory parade and award ceremony in Mumbai before reaching Hyderabad. Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, the Indian team ended their 11-year drought by claiming the ICC title. This triumph followed India’s previous ICC Champions Trophy win in 2013, which was led by MS Dhoni.
Siraj is currently on a break after the World Cup, but he is expected to join India’s squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, scheduled from July 27th to August 7th. The Indian team will compete in three ODIs followed by a three-match T20I series.
