Shubman Gill, who is captaining Team India on the Zimbabwe tour, finally got his bat working. The first two matches were not good for Shubman Gill, who is hoping to cement his place in the T20 team, and he failed to score big. In the third match, Gill's bat definitely showed its colours and the Indian captain scored a strong half-century. Now, after scoring a half-century, Gill was bound to get praise, because it also played an important role in the victory, but due to some reasons, many fans were also upset.
In the third match of the T20 series between India and Zimbabwe in Harare, Shubman Gill played an innings of 66 runs in 49 balls.
Gill, who came to open, gave the team a quick start in this match along with his old opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal and made a partnership of 67 runs. After this, he also added 72 runs for the third wicket with Rituraj Gaikwad.Shubman Gill hit 7 fours and 3 powerful sixes in his innings. He completed his half-century in 36 balls. This innings was special for Gill because after almost a year he scored a half-century for Team India in this format. Earlier on August 12, Gill played an innings of 77 runs against West Indies in Florida.
After this, he failed in the next 6 innings and questions started being raised on him. This was the reason why he joined the T20 World Cup only as a reserve player. Now Gill's innings was fine but still why did the fans not like it? There are many reasons for this. The first reason is that when Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the team, the decision to send him as an opener was right but Gill himself came out to open with him, whereas in the last match itself Abhishek Sharma came out to open and played a blistering innings of 100 runs in 47 balls.
Abhishek came in at number three and could score only 10 runs. The second reason was that Gill did not bat fast even after playing a long innings. Gill completed his half-century in 36 balls and still failed to increase the pace. Gill scored only 15 runs in the next 13 balls. On the contrary, Rituraj Gaikwad, who came at number four, scored a quick 49 runs in just 28 balls, due to which the team could reach this score. That is, Gill first made the mistake of removing Abhishek from opening, who could give a fast start and then could not do this job properly by coming to open himself.
