According to reports, the BCCI now wants to give full rest to the senior players of the Indian team after the end of the T20 World Cup 2024.

This is the reason why captain Rohit Sharma, star batsman Virat Kohli and senior bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be selected in the team for the series against Sri Lanka.

Rohit Sharma has retired from T20 International, so Hardik Pandya can be made the captain of the team for the T20 series against Sri Lanka.

Whereas for the ODI format, wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul can take over the captaincy of the team against Sri Lanka.

Let us tell you that KL Rahul has played 12 matches as the captain of the Indian team in ODI cricket so far, out of which he has won 8 matches.

Also know that Rahul has also captained India in one T20 match and two Test matches.

It is worth noting that the Indian selectors can soon announce the team for the series against Sri Lanka.

The team can be announced by the end of this week. The three matches of the T20 series will be played from July 28 to July 31, while the ODI series will start from August 2 and the last match of the series will be played on August 7.
