Delhi: The next target of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 champion Indian team is the Champions Trophy. India will want to win the title of this tournament to be held next year under the hosting of Pakistan at all costs. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has said that veteran opener Rohit Sharma will captain Team India in the Champions Trophy to be played next year and the Men in Blue will participate in this tournament with their senior players.
Now a BCCI source has informed ANI that the Indian cricket team is unlikely to go to Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. For this, the BCCI will ask the ICC to organize the match in Dubai or Sri Lanka. Now it remains to be seen what decision the International Cricket Council (ICC) takes after BCCI's request to change the venue.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is making every effort to make the Indian team's tour of Pakistan possible after 17 years. The PCB is also considering keeping all the Indian venues at one place in Lahore. Earlier, the PCB had refused to consider a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy. Since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, relations between India and Pakistan have been continuously deteriorating, the team in blue jersey has not been playing cricket in Pakistan.
Let us tell you that the Champions Trophy will be played in February-March next year under the hosting of PCB. PCB is busy preparing for this. The board had earlier said that if the Indian team does not tour Pakistan due to political and security reasons, then PCB will be entitled to compensation.
Will the Indian team go to Pakistan?
It is not yet officially clear whether the Indian team will go to Pakistan for this tournament or not. Pakistani legends say that the Indian team will have to come to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy, but no official update has come from the BCCI yet. However, recent information has been received from sources, but it remains to be seen whether the Indian Cricket Board will decide to send its team to Pakistan or not. If not, then where will Team India play all its matches, in Dubai or in Sri Lanka.
