Team India: BCCI secretary Jay Shah has officially announced the name of Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir. Gautam Gambhir will be seen playing the role of head coach for Team India from the Sri Lanka tour.
On one hand, brainstorming is going on regarding the names of former veteran players who will be included in the support staff along with the head coach of the Indian cricket team, on the other hand, after Gautam Gambhir became the head coach, the possibility of formation of two factions in Team India has also increased significantly.
According to media reports related to veteran batsman Rohit Sharma, who led Team India to win the T20 World Cup 2024 title under his captaincy, the captain will not travel with the team on the Sri Lanka tour.
In such a situation, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, the captaincy can be handed over to any other player for the ODI series to be held on the Sri Lanka tour.
Team India is currently on a Zimbabwe tour. After returning from the Zimbabwe tour, the team has to go on a Sri Lanka tour from July 27. Team India has to play a series of 3 T20 and 3 ODI matches on the Sri Lanka tour. For which the team squad can be announced soon.
According to the reports in the media so far, the selection committee is thinking of appointing different captains for T20 and ODI formats.
According to the reports, Hardik Pandya will be seen captaining in the T20 format, while KL Rahul can take the responsibility of captaining Team India in ODI cricket. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul's name is leading as the contender for the captaincy of Team India in the ODI series to be held on the Sri Lanka tour.
If KL Rahul gets a chance to captain Team India in the ODI format on the Sri Lanka tour and on the other hand Hardik Pandya also joins the ODI team as a player, then the chances of two factions being formed in Team India increases significantly.
If this happens, then something like this happening in Indian cricket after winning the T20 World Cup can prove to be very disappointing.
