England opened their account in the Test series with a strong win in the Lord's Test. England defeated West Indies badly on the third day of the match. Batting first, England scored 371 runs and in reply, West Indies were all out for 121 in the first innings and 136 in the second innings. The hero of England's victory was Gus Atkinson who took 7 wickets in the first innings and 5 wickets in the second innings. However, James Anderson's career also ended with the victory in this match. This was the last international match of this England fast bowler.
James Anderson's career spanned 22 years.
This player made his debut in 2002. He played his first Test against Zimbabwe in 2003. Anderson played 188 Tests in his career and during this time he took 704 wickets. Anderson is the only fast bowler to take more than 700 wickets in Test cricket. Anderson also took 269 wickets in ODIs and 18 wickets in T20.England won the toss at Lord's and elected to field first.
