Delhi: Indian team's fast bowler Avesh Khan has praised Team India's new head coach Gautam Gambhir. It is worth noting that Gambhir was recently appointed as the head coach of the Indian team, as Rahul Dravid resigned from his post after Team India's ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title win.

Khan told BCCI, “What I have learnt from him is about the mindset that you should always perform better than your opponent and give your 100 percent. In team meetings, as well as one-on-one meetings, he would speak less but would put forth his point of view on what needs to be done.”

Avesh further said, “He used to assign tasks and roles to the players and he has always been a 'team coach'. He always wants to win and everyone wants to give their 100 percent.”

Meanwhile, Avesh is the joint-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. The right-arm pacer has taken 6 wickets in three matches at an average of 13.83 and an economy of 7.54. After bowling an economical 1/29 in the first match, the 27-year-old has performed brilliantly with figures of (3/15) in three overs in the second T20I and (2/39) in the third match.

It is worth noting that the team in blue jersey has taken a 2-1 lead in the T20 series by winning the third match by 23 runs. Both the teams will now clash in the fourth T20 match at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.

Gambhir's statement about in-form players

It is known that Gautam Gambhir will become the youngest head coach of the Indian team. He recently said that it is important for a professional player to play as much as possible in his career, because his career is quite limited.

Gautam said, “The career of professional cricketers is quite short, when you are playing for your country, you want to play as many matches as possible, when you are in good form, you should play in all three formats.”
