ICC Rankings: Jaiswal and Gill created a storm in T20 rankings, Indian bowlers also benefited

Delhi: The latest rankings of the International Cricket Council (ICC) were released on Wednesday, in which Indian players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have benefited the most. Both the opening batsmen had performed brilliantly in the T20 International against Zimbabwe.

Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 141 runs in the series, which has helped him climb four places to sixth position. Travis Head is the number 1 batsman in T20 and Suryakumar Yadav is in second place. Shubman Gill, who captained the Indian team in Zimbabwe, was the highest run scorer in the series. Gill scored 170 runs in five innings and due to this he has jumped 36 places to 37th position. Gill is now the fourth player from India to reach such a high ranking in T20 International. The 24-year-old Gill has overtaken recently retired Rohit Sharma (42nd) and Virat Kohli (51st). Now only Suryakumar Yadav (second), Jaiswal (sixth) and Rituraj Gaikwad (eighth) are ahead of him. The Indian team is number 1 in ODI and T20 formats, while Australia is number 1 in Tests.

Bowlers also benefited

Indian bowlers Washington Sundar (up 36 places to 46th) and Mukesh Kumar (up 21 places to 73rd) have also moved up after India registered a 4-1 series win over Zimbabwe.

England spinner Adil Rashid remains at the top of the T20 bowlers' list, Enrique Norkia is second and Wanindu Hasaranga is third. Sri Lanka's Hasaranga is at the top of the T20 all-rounders' list, while Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza has moved up to third place after a good performance against India. Marcus Stoinis is at number 2.

Harry Brook has climbed three places to seventh, Jack Crowley has climbed three places to 13th and Ollie Pope has climbed three places to 29th. Wicketkeeper Jamie Smith, who made his debut at Lord's, is 75th in the batting rankings after his half-century against the West Indies.
