Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was spotted playing table tennis with a friend upon his return after a successful T20I series against Zimbabwe. Despite being part of India‘s T20 World Cup-winning squad, Samson did not see any playing time and had to watch the proceedings from the sidelines. Nevertheless, he was selected for the T20I series against Zimbabwe.

Samson’s arrival, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube, was delayed for two games. They were forced to stay back in Barbados due to a hurricane. After returning to India, they were engaged in a series of programs, including a felicitation ceremony organized by the BCCI.

In the third T20I in Zimbabwe, Samson scored an unbeaten 12 off 7 deliveries. He then went on to smash a brilliant half-century in the final game of the series.

Early in the match, India had stumbled to 40/3 after 5 overs. However, Samson then played a superb innings, scoring 58 runs from just 45 balls. His knock included 1 four and 4 sixes, which helped India post a respectable total of 167.

Pacer Mukesh Kumar spearheaded India’s bowling attack, claiming four crucial wickets to secure a 42-run victory over Zimbabwe. Following the series, wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson has been enjoying some much-needed downtime with friends, having been on the road since the IPL 2024.

The upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka, beginning on July 27, will determine if Samson is selected for the team. In a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra for his YouTube series ‘Unplugged’, India leg-spinner Amit Mishra hinted that Samson may not make the T20 World Cup 2026 squad.
