India’s spinner Sneh Rana opened up on the Women in Blue not winning an ICC trophy. She said that even the men’s team had to wait for 10 years to win a global tournament again, and the women’s team would take inspiration from them. Rohit Sharma’s team won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after defeating South Africa in the final on June 29.

This would work as a source of inspiration for the women’s team. India are the favourite to defend its Women’s Asia Cup title, and it will take on Pakistan on July 19. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team will be targeting the upcoming T20 World Cup in October and the ODI World Cup, which will be played in 2025. Indian team has lost three World Cup finals so far. They were defeated by Australia and England in 2005 and 2017 respectively. They couldn’t go past Australia in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020

The spin-bowling all-rounder believes that it will take a lot of hard work to end the ICC title drought. “Our team has done its best in the last few years. The men’s team won the ICC trophy after a gap of 10 years. They were preparing for it for a long time,” Rana told PTI.

“To achieve something big, it requires a lot of hard work. You can’t win an ICC title overnight. We will get there,” she added.

The team has lacked in the fielding department. “The errors are bound to happen when we play N number of matches, but it doesn’t mean we are bad. No one makes a mistake intentionally. We are working on this area,” she concluded.
