Delhi: Indian team's star fast bowler Mohammed Shami spoke openly about his friendship with fellow players. He revealed that Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma are his best friends and they used to call him constantly while he was out due to injury. Shami, who has been away from the cricket field due to injury since the 2023 ODI World Cup, has started bowling in the nets, which is a big sign towards his return to competitive cricket.

Let us tell you that the pacer was ruled out due to a right heel injury which required surgery and since then he is under the observation of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Mohammad underwent an operation on his Achilles tendon earlier this year, which ruled him out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and the ICC T20 World Cup. Although he has recovered from the ankle injury, he is yet to start bowling at full intensity. Shami is working to regain his form and get medical clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as he aims to return to competitive cricket.

Shami reveals about his best friends

Shami said on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube channel, “Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma are my best friends, they kept calling me continuously when I was injured.”

It is worth noting that Shami was India's best bowler in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He took 24 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 10.70. Despite the ankle injury, he played an important role in Team India's excellent performance during the ICC tournament played in India. However, Shami suffered ankle stiffness before the series against England in January and could not recover in time for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
