Star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is likely to leave Delhi Capitals before the upcoming mega auction. Reports suggest that the Delhi-based franchise are not satisfied with Pant’s leadership, and he could potentially join five-time champions Chennai Super Kings instead.
According to reports, the franchise may consider trading their wicketkeeper-batter. However, former Indian captain and Delhi Capitals’ Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly supports retaining Pant as captain.
If DC release the southpaw, he could join the Chennai Super Kings. A CSK official has hinted that the franchise is looking to sign a top Indian wicketkeeper as a replacement for MS Dhoni, should he decide to retire from the IPL.
On the other hand, KL Rahul could part ways with the Lucknow Super Giants. This development comes after Rahul faced criticism from LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, who lambasted the player following his team’s crushing loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024.
Rahul, a Karnataka-based player, joined LSG for a staggering Rs 17 crore ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. The 31-year-old has played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the past, featuring for them in 2013 and 2016. On multiple occasions, Rahul has expressed his desire to play for his state team again.
In IPL 2024, RCB, led by Faf du Plessis, qualified for the playoffs. However, reports suggest RCB are now seeking an Indian captain. If they can secure the services of Rahul, the star cricketer may take over the RCB captaincy in IPL 2025.
