Because, the series against Sri Lanka is short. And, if we had selected both of them for this series, then obviously one of them would have been sitting out.

Both the players would not have been able to play in all three matches. In such a situation, giving rest to Jadeja was the right option.

Gautam Gambhir, who attended his first press conference as the new head coach of Team India, also mentioned Jadeja. However, he took Jadeja's name for the purpose of the Test series.
