Delhi:Steve Smith, one of the star batsmen of the Australian cricket team, has given a big statement about his Test career. Smith has admitted that he cannot say anything for sure whether he will continue playing Test cricket or not when Australia goes to England to play the Ashes in 2027.

What did Steve Smith say on 2027 Ashes?

Australia retained the trophy by drawing the Ashes series in England in 2019 and 2023, but its wait to win the series on English soil has been going on since 2001.

Smith also wants to be a part of the Australian team that wins the Ashes in England, but he himself does not know whether he will play Test cricket till 2027 or not.

Speaking to The Telegraph, 35-year-old Smith said, “I don't even know whether I will be there in 2027 or not. I have been taking it series by series for a long time and 2027 is still a long way off. Yes, I would love to win an Ashes series there, but let's see what happens next.”

Smith wants to play in 2028 Olympics

Cricket is making a comeback in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics after a long wait of 128 years, where the T-20 format will be played.

When this Olympics takes place, Smith will be 39 years old, but he is trying his best to make a place in Australia's T20 team.

Smith said, “Right now my focus is just on the Olympics and I want to try to be a part of that team.”

For this reason, Smith is also participating in the European T-20 League, so that he can keep himself fully prepared for the shortest format.

Will continue playing T-20 even after Test retirement

Steve Smith, who scored 37 centuries in 125 Test matches, has not set any firm date for his retirement.

He believes that even after he retires from Test cricket, he will still continue playing T20 cricket.

Talking about his career, Smith said,

“I think I can still play T20 cricket for some more time. I don't know what I will do after cricket, but hopefully I still have a few more years of playing time left. I have achieved a lot in this game and the journey of the last 15 years has been amazing. I am still enjoying the game, so there is no fixed date. Let's see what happens next, but the journey so far has been really great.”
