Delhi: The enthusiasm of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has increased regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. There is a possibility that the Indian team will not play in Pakistan due to bad political relations, but the final decision in this regard has to be taken by the Government of India. If India does not go, the tournament can be organized under the 'hybrid model'. The ICC meeting is being held in Colombo, in which the situation regarding the Champions Trophy may become a little clear. India had also refused to go to Pakistan in the Asia Cup held last year. Then the Asia Cup was organized in the 'hybrid model'. If the Indian team does not tour Pakistan, then India's Champions Trophy matches can be held in the UAE.

Former PCB chairman Khalid Mahmood also believes that the chances of the Indian team going to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy are very low. He said, “The chances of them agreeing to play in Pakistan are very low. India is the richest cricket board and they have a lot of influence. If they don't send their team to Pakistan, I think countries like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will follow them.”

He further said, “If the Indian team does not tour Pakistan, the revenue of the Champions Trophy will be affected. This will increase the cost of the event and reduce profits. At this stage you can only keep your side strong and try to keep other boards on your side. India has a lot of influence in the ICC, so adopting such a strategy will not benefit Pakistan. When the BCCI says that it cannot send its teams and play its matches outside Pakistan, it undermines the purpose of hosting ICC events for Pakistan.”

PCB sends schedule of Champions Trophy 2025 to ICC

PCB has prepared the schedule of Champions Trophy and sent it to ICC and its member countries for approval. This schedule will be approved only after getting green signal from all sides. According to this, Champions Trophy will start on 19th February in Karachi, where the final will be held on 9th March in Lahore. The opening match will be between Pakistan and New Zealand. Also, according to the schedule, India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group.

The India-Pakistan match will be played in Lahore on March 1. All the matches of India are scheduled in Lahore. Despite all this, there has been no official confirmation from the BCCI regarding the India tour. The Indian team last visited Pakistan in 2008, when Team India, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, visited Pakistan to play the Asia Cup.
