Smriti Mandhana breaks record for most runs in women’s T20Is

India opener Smriti Mandhana became the leading run-scorer in women’s T20Is during her knock against Bangladesh in the Asian Games 2026 semifinals in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan on Friday.

Smriti surpassed New Zealand’s Suzie Bates. Bates, who retired from the format earlier this year after the T20 World Cup, has 4758 runs to her name.

Also in the top-five list are India captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu.

Earlier in the tournament, Smriti also hacked down a bunch of records, including becoming the all-time top-scorer in women’s international cricket across formats.
