Delhi: Former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra has made it clear that he does not see any problem between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. Gambhir will start his tenure as head coach with the Sri Lanka tour, in which Kohli will also be a part of the ODI team. Despite the argument between the two in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) last year, this season saw a good jugalbandi between them and both got along well.
Before leaving for the Sri Lanka tour, Gambhir had discussed his relationship with Kohli. Former bowler Ashish Nehra believes that there will be no differences between the two in the dressing room. Nehra said that both Gambhir and Kohli are passionate and, when they are in the dressing room, they will be united for the team.
Speaking to a sports channel, Nehra said, “Both Kohli and Gambhir are passionate people. Whenever both have played for the team, they have put the opposition team in trouble. They will remain united in the dressing room and work for the team. Kohli has 16-17 years of experience and Gambhir is also very experienced. It does not matter what people think outside.”
Nehra also said that Gambhir is frank and transparent. He said, “Gambhir is frank and transparent, which is a good thing. He listens to his mind, which is important. I don't see any possibility of problem between Kohli and Gambhir, especially in view of their careers.”
Kohli retires from T20I, but will be seen in the ODI series
It is worth noting that the Indian team will play a three-match T20 International series against Sri Lanka from July 27. Kohli retired from T20 International after the T20 World Cup and he will join the team before the ODI series starting on August 2.
