India captain Shreyas Iyer has won the toss and elected to bowl first in the first T20I against the West Indies. The match will start at 07:00 pm IST.

Toss Decision – Captains’ comments and reasoning

“We will bowl first as it is a mixed-soil pitch. There might be dew in the second innings. We are in the zone and thinking about today’s game. It is going to be a challenge.

West Indies have been fabulous, and they have dominated T20 cricket. They know what they are doing. They have good batters and bowlers. We are looking for a great challenge and contest,” Shreyas Iyer said.

West Indies skipper Shai Hope would have bowled first had he won the toss in the series opener against India. The dew is likely to impact the contest.

“We would have bowled first. It is better to chase in India with dew coming in. We have to adapt again as the conditions are different. We have experienced guys, and we will have to play our best cricket to cross the finishing line,” he said.
