Delhi: There was a lot of money in the player auction held on Wednesday for the fifth season of SA20. The most discussed topic in this auction was Kieron Pollard, who has joined a Super Kings franchise for the first time. 39-year-old Pollard was made a part of their team by Joburg Super Kings for 15 lakh Rand (South African currency).

Pollard has been a part of the MI family for a long time. Apart from Mumbai Indians, he has also played for MI Cape Town, MI Emirates and MI New York in different leagues. However, this time he will be seen in yellow jersey.

There was no second bid to take Pollard

Joburg Super Kings bought Pollard for 1.5 million rand and no other team bid for him. The experience of Super Kings has been further strengthened by the entry of an experienced all-rounder in the team.

However, the biggest bid in the auction was not in Pollard's name. This amount went to all-rounder Jason Rolls, who was almost two decades younger than him.

Bid of 29 lakh rand on 22 year old Rolls

Jason Rolls, who has played for the South Africa U19 team, caught everyone's attention in the auction. Joburg Super Kings bought him for 29 lakh rand. This was the biggest bid of the auction.

The Super Kings had the biggest purse in the auction and they used it to their fullest.

Apart from Rolls and Pollard, the team also added Faf du Plessis, Dayan Galim, Blessing Muzarabani and Andres Goss.

Faf du Plessis returns to the yellow jersey

Faf du Plessis will also be seen once again in the yellow jersey of Super Kings. Joburg Super Kings bought him for 27 lakh rand. Faf's return will provide both experience and strength to the team's top order.

Apart from this, the team bought Dayan Galim for 3.75 lakh Rand, Blessing Muzarabani for 5 lakh Rand and Andries Goss for 10 lakh Rand.

MI Cape Town also spent big money

Trent Boult also returned to the franchise. He was bought for 1.5 million rand. Daniel Smith, Lehan Botha and Oliver Whitehead also got a place in the team.

Pretoria Capitals finally showed interest

Pretoria Capitals had five slots vacant and due to limited budget, the team entered the auction late.

Despite this, he added Rassie van der Dussen, Keemo Paul, Akeem Auguste, Josh Breed and Temba Bavuma.

Rassie van der Dussen did not find any takers in the initial marquee round, but later the Capitals made him a part of their team for 5 lakh rand.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape bought two players

Sunrisers Eastern Cape needed only two players. The team bought Nandre Berger for 5 lakh Rand and Craig Overton for 15 lakh Rand.

At the same time, Durban's Super Giants and Paarl Royals did not have the need to buy in the auction. Both the teams had already completed their team quota. Despite the salary cap being increased to Rand 4.2 crore for this season, both the franchises did not buy any player in the auction.
